Exploring Wallowa Lake State Park – Wade in creeks, wander the shoreline. For the fastest route, take the “billy goat path” down from the chalets or park at the Marina.
Swimming – There are two public beaches at the Lake. The North public beach gets a little more sun and sunbathers, the water is a little warmer, and it is more of a local spot. The South Public Beach/Marina is great because there is a general store, bathrooms, boat rentals, and you have the wonderful Wallowa State Park to explore. You see more anglers here as well.
Rent a Boat! - Just a beautiful Lake and mountain setting to enjoy via a boat.
Rent a SUP- Lazy Otter rents SUPs next to the Stein Distillery, sounds like a fun combination.
Mad Mary’s (Joseph) – Ice cream and quirky gifts/toys.
Go-Karts (summer only) – Always a hit with kids.
Horseback rides – Novice-friendly and a great way to see the backcountry.
Wallowa Tram and Summit Grill- Would you like to have lunch at 8100 feet? Great way to easily get into the Alpine.
BC Creek Falls- 5 minute drive from Chalets. Kid friendly
Iwetemlaykin Heritage Site- Easy hike with beautiful views, just south of Joseph, perfect for kiddos or Boomers.
Aneroid Lake Hike- 5 minute drive from the chalets. Plan on spending time at the lake. It is worth grind to get there and back.
Zumwalt Prairie Preserve/Horned Lark – (about 50 minutes from chalets) Vast, open, and quiet — a lesser-known gem for wildlife watching and solitude. This area is best visited in the spring, when the wildflowers are blooming. Kid-friendly hike.
